Make a living from coaching and thrive: The coaching industry booms
Last year I published an article about the explosion of the coaching industry, which I had no idea about until I saw the numbers. And it's still growing. The coaching industry was the second fastest growing industry in 2021, growing at 6.7% per year and estimated to continue to grow at 5.4% per year, and represents a $15 billion USD global market. So I wanted to share with you these exciting statistics that speak volumes about the evolution of our industry.
Globally, the number of life coaches increased by 33% between 2016 and 2020.
4,380,000 people would be trained in coaching today in the world! Only 71,000 are officially certified by organizations (less than 2%).
I am often being asked if my training is certified by an "official" organization, it is not and for me it does not change anything... I realize that for most coaches this is not a problem either! Coaching brings us back to our personal sovereignty.
90% of the people trained declare that they are in business and live from coaching entirely or partially.
Almost all coaches - 94% - offer other services in addition to coaching: most often consulting, training and/or facilitation services in various forms. For those who live from multiple activities, 44% of their time is dedicated to pure coaching.
About 2/3 of the coaches have a niche, 1/3 remain "universal" coaches.
💁🏽♀️💁🏽♀️. Most have been in one or more jobs before, their experience is valued, they are retraining. Most are between 30 and 60 years old.
Business coaching and health coaching have been booming in recent years.
The average annual income for coaches: USD 47,000 (all countries). This is one of the fastest growing businesses, depending on our niche and reach.
The impact is evident for companies that understand the importance of coaching: 63% of organizations that offered coaching to their employees experienced higher revenue growth and profits than their competitors.
And nearly three in four managers/leaders (74%) said they intend to enroll in additional coaching-specific training in the next 12 months.
